While the early arrival of the first frost is looming, the French are 71% to fear the impact of the winter on their electricity bill. According to an Odoxa / JeChange survey, 77% of those who have electric radiators are working to reduce it by any means, fearing the impact of rate increases decided this summer.
Electric heating remains an expense item that worries many people who are equipped with convectors. As the first cold snap of the autumn is announced this weekend, 71% of them declare that they are delaying as soon as possible the moment when they will have to turn on their electric radiators according to an Odoxa survey (carried out on the Internet October 9/10 at 1000 French) for JeChange, internet platform that helps individuals to change their suppliers (electricity, gas, internet, insurance).

According to Le Parisien, which reveals the results, 77% of the French are seeking by all means to reduce the electricity bill related to heating. The most common "technique" is to turn on electric heaters (43% of respondents use them) and a third (34%) turn them on only in a few rooms.

These worries of the French about the soaring of their bill can partly be explained by the two successive increases of regulated tariffs of electricity practiced in June (+ 5.9%) and in August (+ 1.26%) . While these will feel their first inflationary effects this winter, a very clear majority (91%) of respondents considers taxes on electricity too important, tariff increases too frequent and incomprehensible (89%) ...

In France, almost a third of households would be equipped with electric heating, its penetration in new housing having accelerated after the oil shocks of 1973 and 1978, under the influence of EDF which sought to "make profitable" in faster the operation of its fleet of nuclear power plants.
